Overview

Ira has been my single longest running project. I used Ira to cut my teeth in the game development world. With this project I’ve learned equal parts of what to do, and what not to do when developing a game (or any large scale endevor for that matter). Ira has been a constant test bed. A place where I’ve been able to push my development skills via constant iteration and experimentation without having to worry about client needs. I’ve taken these skills and I’ve applied them to client projects (and vice versa). All of those skills can be seen permeating throughout this portfolio.

Ira has been an ongoing project, and in that time I went from creating a popular prologue in Unity, running a successful Kickstarter, to transitioning into Unreal engine where I learned to program in Blue Prints / C++, further developed my technical artist skills, and applying for and receiving a MegaGrant from Epic Games. I’ve rebuilt the game more times than I can count. Each time incorporating what I’ve learned into the updated system. I’ve even done a number of tutorials to share some of my skills with the community. That way inspiring developers can learn from both my less successful ventures, and my triumphs.

Ira is a continuing project. Some of my creative pipeline has been featured on Epic Games’ very own tech blog, and I feel very privileged that I’ve been able to create a space for myself in the industry as someone with useful experience to share. Ira’s a personal project that I work on between contracts from my freelance business New Azimuth (formerly ORE Creative LLC). A prologue was released and earned millions of views, 1000’s of wish lists on Steam, and was played by some of the most famous YouTube gamer personalities (like Markiplier). Ira has contracts and permission to release on all major consoles/platforms. I’ve had builds up and running on my development kits. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and number of personal losses in my life, Ira has been delayed longer than I would have liked, but I fully intend to finish in 2023 -2024.
